Requesting Your First Quote

A walkthrough of requesting your first firm quote on GlacierPay, from choosing a pair and size to accepting the price before it expires.

Trading on GlacierPay is quote driven. Rather than posting orders to a public book, you request a firm price for a specific pair and size, review it, and accept it before it expires. This gives you a known execution price with no slippage.

Building a quote request

From the dashboard, open the trade panel and enter the details of the transaction you want to execute. You can specify the amount in either the crypto asset or the fiat currency, and the desk returns the corresponding amount on the other side.

  • Select the pair you want to trade, for example CAD to BTC
  • Choose the direction, buying crypto or selling crypto
  • Enter the size in either the fiat or crypto leg
  • Review the all-in price, which already includes the desk spread

Accepting before expiry

Each quote is firm for a short validity window shown by a countdown timer. If you accept within that window, the price is locked and the trade is booked. If the timer runs out, simply request a fresh quote and the desk reprices against current market conditions.

After you accept, the trade appears in your activity feed with settlement instructions. Your first execution is a good moment to confirm your settlement details are correct so delivery is smooth.
